School counselors are an integral part of the United States education system and the future of children and young adults across the country.  Every year, the NCSCPS hosts a White House Convening conference for counselors and educators across the country.  It's a knowledge packed, invitation only gathering of committed leaders focused on improving the school counseling preparation, programs and practices, with the intent of increasing college access for all students.  General Malaise Productions, approached Bryant Coffey, Inc. to assist in editorial needs for a short highlight video, detailing the event in an exciting way to encourage members of the counselor and educational community to reach out and learn more.

The Goal 

In partnership with the White House's College Opportunity Agenda and First Lady, Michelle Obama's Reach Higher Initiative, the goal of the conference is to get counselors across the nation together in one place to learn how different states operationalize education for counselors.  

"Here in the school counselor's profession, this is like being at the Emmy's or the Oscars.  You get to see the heroes and the champions that were your heroes when you went into the profession, who have continued to lead the work nationally."

Results

Since the First Lady's announcement of the Reach Higher Initiative, counselors across the nation have stepped up efforts through their organizations, schools and institutions to answer the First Lady's call, to change the direction of this country, by giving more young people the opportunity for a post-secondary education.  They've analyzed the data, determined what is working and are bringing it to scale in an effort to change the destinies of young people throughout the United States.
